Calculadora de Alfombra — ft to sq yd, rolls, cost
Como usar esta calculadora
Ingrese las dimensiones de la habitacion (rectangle, L-shape, or custom area). Select carpet roll width (12 ft or 15 ft standard). La calculadora determines the linear feet of carpet off the roll, number of seams, padding area, and tack strip perimeter. Waste is calculated based on seam matching.
Anchos de rollo — 12 ft (estandar) o 15 ft. Rollos mas anchos reducen costuras.
Base — misma area que la alfombra. Las tiras de fijacion recorren el perimetro de la habitacion menos las entradas.

How to Calculate Carpet for a Room
Esta calculadora de alfombra estimates the square yards of carpet needed, linear feet off the roll, number of seams, padding area, and tack strip quantity. Ingrese las dimensiones de la habitacion en pies y pulgadas, choose your roll width (12 ft standard or 15 ft wide), and adjust waste allowance.
Formulas
Square yards = (length × width) / 9. Linear feet = room length × ceil(room width / roll width). Seams = ceil(room width / roll width) − 1. Tack strips = perimeter / 4 (sold in 4 ft pieces). Padding = same area as carpet.
Roll Width Tips
Standard carpet rolls are 12 ft wide. If your room is 12 ft or narrower, you avoid seams entirely. 15 ft wide rolls cover wider rooms seamlessly. Always run carpet lengthwise along the longest dimension for fewer seams.
Preguntas frecuentes
Why sq yd instead of sq ft? Carpet is traditionally priced and sold by the square yard in the US. 1 sq yd = 9 sq ft. Do I need extra for pattern matching? Yes, add 10-15% waste for patterned carpet to align the pattern across seams.
