Como usar esta calculadora

Choose a driveway shape — straight rectangle, flared (wider at street), curved (approximate), or custom area — then set the concrete thickness (4–6″ typical) y tolerancia de desperdicio. Enable optional sections for subbase gravel, rebar/mesh, control joints, and full cost breakdown.

Espesor — 4″ minimum for cars, 5–6″ for trucks/RVs. Subbase — 4″ compacted gravel recommended. Joints — control joints every 10 ft to prevent cracking. Finish — broom finish (standard), exposed aggregate, or stamped.

How to Calculate Concrete for a Driveway

Esta calculadora estima concrete volume, gravel subbase, reinforcement, control joints, and total cost for residential driveways. Choose from straight, flared, curved, or custom area shapes. Standard residential thickness is 4–6 inches per ACI 318-19.

Formulas

Concrete volume = Area × Thickness ÷ 27 (yd³). Gravel volume = Area × Gravel depth ÷ 27. Control joint length = number of transverse cuts × width + number of longitudinal cuts × length. Joint spacing = slab thickness (in) × 2.5 (max 10 ft).

Reinforcement Options

Welded wire mesh (6×6 W1.4/W1.4): standard for driveways, 5×10 ft sheets. Rebar #3 or #4 at 12″ o.c. both ways for heavy-duty. Fiber mesh: added to the mix at ~1.5 lb/yd³.

Preguntas frecuentes

How thick for a driveway? 4″ minimum for cars, 5–6″ for trucks/RVs/heavy vehicles. Do I need gravel? Yes, 4″ compacted gravel or crushed stone provides drainage and prevents settling. Control joints? Cut every 8–10 ft to control cracking. Depth should be ¼ of slab thickness.
